remove.bg is quick and good at what it does, and it works by uploading your photo to its servers. If you'd rather keep photos on your device, or want full-resolution cutouts without credits, Cutout is an alternative.
| Cutout (One Design) | remove.bg | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | In your browser, on your device | On remove.bg's servers |
| Your photo is uploaded | No | Yes |
| Full-resolution download | Free | Uses credits |

| Works offline after the first use | Yes | No |
For very fine hair on busy backgrounds a large server model can do better, and remove.bg has plugins for other apps. For most product photos, portraits and logos, a cutout on your device is all you need.
One Design is a set of 24 everyday image, brand, privacy and PDF tools that run in your browser, so your files never leave your device. It's designed and built by Alex Marin, a product and brand designer in London.
